New York Times: ‘Wash Your Car As Soon As Possible’

We recently ran a blog post called “Recent Op-Ed Pieces Diverge On Whether Washing Cars In Winter Is Worth The Cost” and quipped that, “Granted, these were not New York Times op-eds.”

Well, it’s possible The New York Times editors are Car Wash Business Blog readers because this morning there’s an opinion piece in the Automobiles section of the Times: “Wash Your Car To Keep Rust Away.”

While there’s nothing here we don’t already know, the Times seems to side with the wash your car as often as possible during the winter point of view. They write:

Wash your car as soon as possible. You should have been keeping on top of this all winter, but it can be difficult to find a car wash that still works in the below-freezing temperatures that have been common in the past two months. As the weather gets warmer, it’s your chance to wash off all of that salt.

That’s just what the International Carwash Association always says. The Times also writes, “The best kind of carwash to visit is one with handheld pressure wands. Start at the top of the vehicle and work your way down, paying particular attention to the underside.”

Could winter really be over?
