Here’s how it went down, according to the newspaper:
A 47-year-old man was working inside the car wash when two armed men attempted to rob the business. After two male employees heard the disturbance and ran to his assistance, the two suspects fled from the scene. As he attempted to leave, Kyles fired shots toward the car wash and, in the process, shot himself in the leg. The second suspect is still at large.
To insult, they added injury. The dude who shot himself (how does that even happen?) was Daniel Kyles, 25, and he remains in critical condition at the hospital, the Commercial Appeal reported. Police charged him with criminal attempt felony, aggravated robbery, and two counts of aggravated assault.
While we’re on the subject, here are three ridiculous car wash crime stories:
- Somebody decided to bring their hand grenade down to the local car wash, then left it. How does somebody forget their hand grenade?
- A car wash in South Dallas, Texas, has allegedly been the site of overt drug activity, and officials are pushing to shut it down. But others argue the government is overstepping its bounds.
- Does this guy really think nobody sees him? A thief uses a blow torch to steal coins.
