Burbank, California is the latest city to join the “Go Dirty for the Drought” campaign launched by environmental organization, Los Angeles Waterkeeper.
As we previously wrote, the campaign encourages residents to pledge to not wash their car for 60 days. Burbank’s municipal cars including those belonging to the police, water and sewer, and fire department agreed to the conservation program, the LA Times reported.
Those who sign on to LAwaterkeeper.com and pledge to abide by the water restrictions will receive a blue campaign sticker to raise awareness and excuse the car’s accumulated dirt. LA Waterkeeper grew their support to more than 6,000 people and are aiming for a goal of 10,000.
“We really want to get the word out,” city spokesman Drew Sugars said. “The primary message is to remind the public that we are in the worst drought in a century, and it’s not just business as usual.”
