They’re calling themselves the Uber of the car wash business. Just two months after Washos launched in Los Angeles, the mobile car washing and detailing service has already served more than 500 customers.
Washos is an app-based business that works with local mobile car wash companies to get detailers to customers in less than 30 minutes of scheduling an appointment. They currently serve the Los Angeles area but are already planning to expand along the West Coast.
“This idea has been over a year in the making,” the co-founder Benjamin Guez said in a press release. “An opportunity has been identified with a prototype build early 2014, and the software itself has spent six months in development while we hammered out every single detail.”
Perhaps the biggest challenge a mobile startup faces is getting the word out. Without a brick-and-mortor shop, that can be difficult. But Washos used that to their advantage, established a way for customers to book appointments by text message and through their smartphone app, making it easier in many ways than heading to a shop. According to a corporate press release:
The challenge is real as mobile detailing service are less known by the general public than other delivery service. To tackle that issue, Washos defined a standard and clear offer. With its mobile application, the startup brings technology and innovation at the heart of an industry where contractors mainly work with text messages. … Indeed, the company only works with insured and background checked mobile detailers. They are thoroughly tested and evaluated by the company during an extensive trial period.
