It was at a car wash in Cape Coral, Florida that a man found a worn baseball and a mystery. The words “1st Grand Slam County Tournaments” are written on the ball in what looks like a child’s scrawl. The ball is also dated April 18, 2015.
When James Hammond found the keepsake this week, he posted a picture of it on social media, hoping to reunite the ball with its owner. “For me, memories are part of the game,” Hammond told Wink News. The ball was found at Happy Days Car Wash.
Hammond took to Facebook writing “This is probably a long shot but I found this baseball at the car wash on Santa Barbara just south of Veterans in Cape Coral.” The comments came pouring in. The post was shared more than 2,200 times before Hammond again commented on his own page saying the owner had been found.
