The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported details of the settlement according to a published report. The victim, Malcolm Callender II, was an employee of the car wash. He died when a man fleeing police drove through the glass wall of Mikael’s Auto Spa on Roswell Road and hit Callender while he was standing inside.
Callender was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Police arrested 22-year-old Wilfredo Santo-Serrano the next day. He was charged he with felony hit-and-run and first-degree vehicular homicide.
“The enormity of this loss for the family is unfathomable,” a lawyer for the family told the paper. “There can be no greater tragedy than for a parent to have to bury a child.”
