Ever considered serving food at your car wash? It’s a combination that works for a station in Kansas City. A North Oak car wash got a nice shout out from a Kansas City paper’s blog about dining and restaurant reviews.
The writer stumbled upon the joint and said at first he suspected it was a joke. The same sign that advertised for a clean car also promoted Italian dishes in bright lettering showing: “Italian Steak Sandwich,” “Fresh Home Made Lasagna,” “Meatball Sandwich,” “Chicken Spedini,” and “Try Our Tiramisu Cannolis.”
The place is called The Better Wash and Dominic’s Italian Express and the writer took to the internet asking commenters whether they would eat there before he took the plunge himself. He was pleasantly surprised, according to his account. And while the car wash business aspect wasn’t of prime focus for his column, the author Craig Jones said he would be open to a wash in the future.
“The point is, the food, whether served in carry-out or dine-in format, was really good and exceeded our expectations,” he wrote. “More importantly, Dominic’s passed our ultimate question we always ask after trying a new place: Would you go back? Our answer from this experience is a resounding YES. And maybe next time I’ll try the Tiramisu Cannolis … and get the car washed.”
