Car wash experts are warning about the dangers of arc flash burns for employees working around a car wash’s electrical system. Mike Benmosche, National Car Wash Program Specialist of McNeil and Company, recently blogged about the dangers on his site. This type of electrical explosion can lead to death or serious injuries. It’s a phenomenon that can happen suddenly and without warning, leading to flashes that reach 30,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

“It is important to not just understand the dangers associated with arc flash, but also to convey these dangers, and how to protect against them, to everyone in your organization through training,” Benmosche said. “It is also important to make the use of protective equipment mandatory in any situation where an employee would come in contact with electricity. If it is not already, make this a written procedure in your safety manual today.”

For a full explanation of what can cause a flash arc and how to prevent them, including a description read the rest of Benmosche’s post.
