A military man looking for something to do in his civilian life is being credited for fixing up an old eyesore and starting a thriving car wash business in the process. Matthew Reiter turned an abandoned property in Fraser, Michigan into Crystal Clean Car Wash. After more than 11 years as an Army officer, Reiter returned home to work for the National Guard. But his entrepreneurial spirit pushed him to look for new opportunities.
“I guess I’m kind of predisposed to being in charge of whatever I’ve got my hands on,” Reiter told C&G Newspapers. “It kind of suits me; I’m drawn to it. If things are meant to be, it’s up to me to get them done.”
Reiter bought the old car wash in March and is planning for a grand opening in August. His business replaces an old car wash that had fallen into disrepair. He has since replaced many of its features and said he is also working to repair relationships with former customers who say they had a bad experience at the old business.
