Here’s a gruesome story out of Missouri where police say two teenage boys killed a woman who was vacuuming her car November 1. The two boys, ages 13 and 14, are accused of stabbing the woman then driving off with her dead body in the passenger seat. Surveillance video at the car wash captured the woman cleaning her vehicle before the two teens were seen getting into her car.
Police who later tracked down the car chased the two boys on foot as they fled the scene. When they returned to the vehicle, police found the victim dead in the passenger seat. Court records revealed 43-year-old Tanya Chamberlain had been stabbed multiple times in the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.
After police released the surveillance footage, neighbors and parents of classmates were able to identify the boys as students at Bernard C. Campbell Middle School in Lee’s Summit, a suburb of Kansas City.
The New York Daily News reports that friends and neighbors are baffled as to the motive behind the killing.
“I just want to know why. What would make you want to do something like that to a defenseless lady,” Chamberlain’s friend Jeremiah Persinger told KCTV5.
It remains unclear whether the eighth grade students will be charged as juveniles or adults.
